HÜTTENCHALETS

Location

Enjoy the beauty of the Thuringian Rhön! Here you’ll find countless possibilities for every taste. Whether you prefer exploring scenic hiking trails, discovering the area by bike, or simply finding peace in nature – there is something for everyone. Spend an unforgettable time in the Hüttenchalets.

Just five kilometers away lies Geisa – a charming small town in the heart of the Rhön. Nestled within the UNESCO Rhön Biosphere Reserve, Geisa offers a perfect blend of nature, culture, and tranquility. Visitors can look forward to a historic old town with timber‑framed buildings, a picturesque castle square surrounded by historic architecture, and a variety of shopping options – including several supermarkets, bakeries, butcher shops, a beverage store, a bicycle shop, and other everyday conveniences.

The traditional village of Rasdorf, located about seven kilometers away, is one of the oldest settlements in the region and forms part of the “Center of German Unity.” It is especially known for the historic “Point Alpha Trail,” which connects Rasdorf with Geisa. The village’s historic center, its impressive collegiate church, and local restaurants invite you to enjoy a relaxed visit.

The lively small town of Hünfeld, around fifteen kilometers from the Hüttenchalets, is known as the “Konrad Zuse City” and delights visitors with modern public art, a charming town center, numerous shops, and cozy cafés. The city museum, the Bürgerpark, and a wide range of events make Hünfeld an attractive destination.

The baroque city of Fulda, approximately thirty kilometers away, is considered a cultural highlight of the region. The magnificent city impresses with Fulda Cathedral, the city palace, the expansive palace gardens, and a vibrant old town filled with boutiques, restaurants, and cafés. Museums, concerts, and seasonal markets offer a diverse program throughout the year – ideal for guests who appreciate culture, architecture, and urban flair.

The Rhön Dark Sky Reserve is one of the few officially recognized International Dark Sky Parks in Germany and offers an almost natural night landscape with exceptionally clear starry skies. On moonless nights, the Milky Way appears as a glowing band, thousands of stars are visible, and even faint celestial phenomena such as zodiacal light can be seen with the naked eye.

For our guests, this means unforgettable nights, peaceful nature, and a sky rarely found elsewhere – perfect for romantic evenings, photography, or simply marveling at the universe.
